Shrimp Fra Diavolo Recipe

While sauce is simmering, cook linguini according to package directions. When pasta is almost done, drain shrimp and place in the bottom of a large colander.

A generous handful of garlic and a rousing measure of red pepper flakes kicks this tomato and shrimp sauce into high gear. Simmer the garlic, pepper and tomatoes with wine, toss hot pasta with the cooked shrimp then put it all together and serve.

fantastic. I am Italian and picky when it comes to all Italian cooking and this could not have been better. I doubled the recipe using 1 28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes and on can of fire roasted. I used 1 1b. of med. shrimp, 1/2 lb. of scallops, 1/2 lb. calamari rings and 1 and 1/2 lbs of mussels (which I steamed in advance and put in the sauce in their shells - key). I also amped up the garlic, cut back a little on the salt and the parsley and added a few splashes of red wine. Red pepper (2 tsp. for doubled recipe was not too much for my crew. In fact a added a little bit more.) This was served on Christmas eve as a first course and fed about 10 people. Comments included "best I have ever had." Thank you so much for this simple wonderful recipe. It's a keeper!

This was very good, especially considering how few ingredients and the ease of preparation. My family doesn't like big chunks of tomatoes so I just dropped the immersion blender into the sauce pan for a few seconds, giving this a bit more interesting texture. I didn't have any scallops but threw in some frozen tiny langostino instead. I had large tail on shrimp so let those sit in some boiling water for a few minutes and tossed them in at the end so they wouldn't get rubbery. I think any seafood would be great. Added the red wine per other reviewers, a tsp or so of sugar and some italian seasoning. This would be a terrific recipe for last minute guests, too, since I keep these ingredients on hand and it really looks and tastes like a lot more effort than it is. All the kids and hubby commented on the great dinner. Thanks for a new go-to recipe!

I didn't have any scalops on hand. I just kept it simple with shrimp. Also, toasted bread with mozzarella cheese sprinkled on top accents this dish very well.
